You’ve failed people, or maybe they failed you. Jobs left unfinished, debts unpaid, friends disappointed. Whether through bad luck, bad choices, or just not caring anymore, you’ve been running from expectations for a while now.

  • Backround Knowledge. You have disadvantage on all skill checks. When you first succeed on a skill check, you no longer have disadvantage on it, and you gain an inspiration.
    • If you manage to clear this disadvantage on ten skills, your life gets back on track, and you gain an inspiration after every long rest.
    • If you manage to clear this disadvantage on all of your skills, your past life is behind you, and you truly are a hero. You gain an inspiration after every short rest.
  • Skilled at Nothing. You’ve picked up a lot of random tricks, mostly from trying to avoid real work. You gain no real advantages, but you can do the following things:
    • Proficient at doing half a job, then disappearing.
    • Automatically fail at whistling, but insist you used to be good at it.
    • Always find the cheapest drink in town, no matter what. It will be terrible.
    • Forge a signature that’s “probably close enough.”
    • Hide money from your party, but forget where you put it.
    • Can sleep through combat, thunder, or shouting.
    • Can perfectly recall bad advice they once received from someone.
    • Can instantly identify the most comfortable piece of furniture in any room.
