You have learned the ancient craft of inscribing power into the world itself. With hammer, chisel, ink, or blood, you etch symbols that whisper to the forces beyond. Some call you an artisan, others a heretic, but the runes always answer.

Did you inherit your craft from a lost culture, or discover it in a moment of inspiration? What rune did you carve that you still regret? What secret meaning lies hidden in your most recent work?

  • Equipment. A set of artisan’s tools (one of your choice), a small knife, a whetstone, a set of common clothes.
  • Tools & Languages. One Artisan’s Tool of your choice
  • Backround Knowledge. You gain advantage on ability checks related to runes, and determining the magical power of a rune.
  • Runes of Power. You’ve mastered basic rune magic that can be carved into tools, weapons, or surfaces. During a long rest, you can inscribe one of the following runes onto an item or surface:
    • Ward Rune: When the bearer is hit by an attack, they can use their reaction to reduce the damage by 1d4.
    • Recall Rune: You can telepathically sense the direction and distance of the inscribed object within 1 mile.
  • Each rune lasts 24 hours or until you inscribe another of the same type. You can maintain up to two runes at once.
