Thousands of years ago, a devoted sect of dragon-worshipers founded the city of Wyrmhaven – a grand sanctuary nestled high in the mountains. There, mortals and dragons lived side by side in mutual respect, bound by a shared desire for peace and harmony. But the world beyond these mountains remained hostile to dragons. They were still hunted, feared, and slain for their power.

In response, the dragons of Wyrmhaven bestowed a powerful blessing upon their most loyal mortal followers. Through ancient rites, these individuals were infused with draconic magic, transforming their bodies and spirits. Some had scales bloomed across their skin, some saw their heads sprout horns and their pupils turn slitted, gaining draconic magic, and some even grew large, majestic wings. Thus were born the Vorelthar – mortal champions bound by oath and magic to defend dragonkind. The rest of the world called them “Dragontouched”.

Most Vorelthar descend from those originally blessed in Wyrmhaven, their draconic traits often pass to their children, manifesting fully during adolescence. These inherited gifts are unpredictable, sometimes skipping generations or appearing in unexpected ways. Occasionally, dragons still choose to bestow their blessing upon mortals – often in times of great need or as a reward for extraordinary loyalty.

Today, the Dragontouched remain a proud and vigilant people. Most still dwell in their ancestral mountain kingdom, where good-aligned dragons are always welcomed as kin. Some, however, are drawn to the wider world by a thirst for adventure or a sense of duty. Whether serving as mercenaries, emissaries, or wandering heroes, Vorelthars rarely forget their sacred charge. Wherever they go, they stand ready to protect any dragon who walks the path of peace.
