Step one
Choose a class from the Classes List.
Step Two
Choose a race from the Races List.
Step Three
Choose a background from the available Backgrounds and a Community from Communities.
What’s the difference?
- Background = what you did before adventuring → tool proficiencies, gear, a flavorful ability
- Community = where you grew up → skill proficiencies
Then, choose any two Languages your character knows from the Languages list. Some backgrounds provide additional languages, choose anything from the list for those.
Step four
If you are higher level, choose a feat or feats from the Feats list.
Then, you can easily calculate all ability scores and proficiencies with my app. Please use PC for this as the mobile version is not ready. Here it is: dnd-sheet-calculator.web.app
If you don’t want to use my app (but why wouldn’t you), you have 78 points for ability scores, you can distribute them how you want, the only rule is that abilities can’t go above 18, and below 6.
Calculate your skill and saving throw proficiencies, and your character is mostly done!
